28.05.2008 Jonsu blog post

Dear friends, acquintances and strangers,

We have promised to start keeping a blog about two years ago, but this is the historical day when that really happens. Our deepest apologies for taking so long. Everyone who has learned to read knows how time flies... ;) Before that it crawled.

Let me tell briefly what's up for Indica. The press release already had a few things, but now the album is ready except for the vocal tracks (I lied right away, the album is also short our guesting world famous Troy with his pipes, one Wurlitzer track and my indescribably important violin parts). I've also been promoted on this album as the speed controller for Leslie, so I'm not sure if I'll bother to show up for the singing. I had to stay a few days away from the studio because of the flu (which has already lasted 3 weeks, a new record!) and you can only imagine the amount of merriment when I got back and our dear bass player Heini had recorded the songs full of bass harmonies with her dear Rick. Sirkku had also gone wild with the melodica and her clarinet, and sneaked away to play a strange harpsichord, but they all sounded great in the end! I should be away more often.

The studio has been populated by genius-Tero (on bad days, lazy-Tero), the Golden Ears (this is the only name we'll answer in the studio, and we have NO bad days!), Tumppu and the daily changing number of dogs. Sirkku is also planning to get a sheep, so the vocal recordings are likely to feature a a diverse group of animals.. By the way, I got my record-flu in the video shoot which took until the morning. The video for Pahinta tänään, directed by Jesse Hietanen, is already available in Youtube.

Laura's drum recording at Petrax were superfun. I woke up people by singing Over the Rainbow high and loud in the mornings (but the wake up of drum artists actually required more drastic means). And I've lost my heart to Petrax. It's my new favourite place. Wonderful to return there soon. Still a few gigs to go before that, so maybe we'll see there. And before that, I have to get a suitable amount of sleep.

Heartfelt thanks to all of you who have been with us all these years, and also to all of you who we've met for only seconds. Thanks for your support and your really significant part in the Indica family. I hope with all of my heart that the new record will bring you joy and solace... and whatever else you may long for.
