Craziness and Big Feelings 29.9.2008
Greetings to everyone and a nice autumn to everyone from me too! Now we have such a weekend behind us that it's not possible to do anything but smile and remember it with warm feelings. Saturday was a day to remember forever for all of us, even if there was a lot of hurrying and last-minute-doing, enough of it for several days' worth.
Our day started already at 9 in the morning when we visited MTV3 Finland for the filming of the Jackpot TV program. This time we didn't have to feel nervous about our own performance, rather than the family who was performing in the episode, and how their task went. But no more about that, you can see the results for yourself when the show airs :)
After we got out of there our technician prodigies, "Vajak Brothers", went to Tavastia to set up all our stuff ready for the evening. I had time to go home at this point, with an aim to have a brief rest, but I couldn't get any sleep because a really bad case of nerves settled in which made me entirely listless. So then I had to just go to Tavastia when it felt it was useless to stay at home. Waiting for the check seemed like an eternity and I killed time basically telling bad jokes and lines, annoying my dear bandmates, our booking agent and the Vajak Brothers. Luckily their nerves are hard as steel, and nobody even threatened to hit me, I think. (Haha)
After the check it was more waiting, and I was pretty much certain that the clock had started to go backwards. I don't really understand myself how I managed to reach that kind of state of panic. It felt like I had never played a single gig and hadn't ever seen such an instrument as drums. When the intro tape started playing I had to go hide behind the monitor mixing desk to assess the situation, whether I dare to go on stage. Of course I had to, if I hadn't gone willingly, someone would have probably dragged me there from my hair. Luckily the biggest tension was released immediately during the first song and I felt great. Lots of people, many familiar faces, and lots of arms in the air. Can't really hope for much else. And also when the playing started to go well, it was easy to smile. A few songs got their premiere performances on that gig, but it was nice to notice that at least some had had the time to get familiar with the material beforehand. Oh wow, I don't really have the words to describe what the feeling was. I must say that this gig entered my ranking list's top places, and I'd have felt regret if I had stayed hidden.
So, really super, wonderful, great! Thanks to everyone who was there, without you the gig would've been nothing. Thanks to all who were part of making the album, without you the gig would've not been possible. Especially thanks to Maija and our wonderful Vajak Brothers, you do it so well:) I'd also like to thank those four crazy Indicans who are so dear and wonderful. Peace!
